Listening with Our Hands: JULY 16 & 17 | Sat 9-6p, Sun 9-4p cost: $345 with Lorna Sigourney, LMT, CST

This 14-hour course will provide students with an introduction to Peirsman Craino led by Lorna Sigourney, LMT, CST. After a 4-year in-depth internship with master therapist and teacher Etienne Peirsman, Lorna was granted a Level I CST teacher certification, she is the only student in North America to achieve this level of certification.

Peirsman Cranio is distinct in its approach to developing a sensitivity and understanding of the primary functions for craniosacral fluid and the craniosacral system. Utilizing the Zen tradition of “no mind” we enter through the heart to engage with the potency and intelligence of the human body, this is cranio for everybody.   

Members of the general public can study Craniosacral Therapy with no previous bodywork experience. This program is also excellent for professional bodyworkers, including Massage Therapists, Polarity Therapists, Rolfing practitioners, Acupuncturists, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Doctors, and Chiropractors.

Course will include:

• Brief history of Craniosacral Therapy (CST)

• Basic anatomy that defines the primary function of craniosacral fluid (CSF) and the craniosacral system

• Identification of common causes of restrictions of CSF system/fascial tissues with an understanding of indications and contraindications for CST

• Hands-on Sessions in which we:

  • discover and recognize craniosacral rhythms/tides

  • develop sensitivity for the palpation of these tides; listening with our hands

  • Recognize areas of congestion/obstruction in the CSF system

  • Facilitate balancing the CSF system via hand placement techniques

  • Acquire skills for a basic CST session to offer as stand alone sessions and/or be utilized to enhance other bodywork modalities

ABOUT LORNA:  

The door to the world of Craniosacral therapy opened for Lorna Sigourney during her search to aid a loved one who was then suffering from chronic, debilitating migraines. After visiting top physicians and a variety of specialists and testing multiple medications, all of which failed to bring any lasting relief, a suggestion was made to try Craniosacral therapy. From the very first session, there was an immediate reduction in symptoms. This experience gave Lorna a strong desire to learn more about Craniosacral therapy and holistic healing.

Lorna has been a Licensed Massage Therapist and Certified Usui Reiki Master since 2007.  In 2013, she received Certification in Craniosacral Therapy from Etienne Peirsman at the New Mexico Academy of Healing Arts in Santa Fe.  A Level I CST teacher certification was granted following an in-depth four-year internship, making her the only student of Etienne's in North America to achieve this level of certification.
